Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) program organizes its courses so that students learn basic business concepts and principles, get hands-on experiences in field-based projects and apply both theory and logic to problem solving. Graduates find employment in the world of business, commerce, government, and technology at the entry or intermediate levels and move rapidly to positions of greater responsibility.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT

  • Applicants should have minimum 2nd division in Higher Secondary School Certificate or equivalent from HEC recognized Institute/Board.
  • Applicants having “A” levels or other foreign qualifications must provide an equivalence certificate issued by Intermediate Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC).

Master of Business Administration at Iqra University is equivalent to a Masters in Philosophy and makes you eligible to enter the three year Ph.D. programme. The diversity of this higher-level programme reflects the strong integration of the university and the corporate sector, where every single course has been shaped and reshaped to cater for the present and future business needs.

It offers considerable options to students, thereby adequately preparing them for a variety of careers in both the public and private sectors. The specialization courses allow students to focus on the functional areas of their choice and seek broader knowledge in Marketing, Finance, Human Resource Management, E-Business, Banking and Information Technology. Each MBA course has industry-integrated projects, case studies and workshops supervised through the faculty which represent the top corporate heads and experts of relevant areas. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  • Applicants from HEC recognized universities / degree awarding institutions which award degrees on division basis must have a minimum of 2nd division in the relevant field of study provided the division is mentioned on the Degree/ Transcript.
  • Applicants from HEC recognized universities / degree awarding institutions which award degrees on CGPA basis must have a minimum of 2.5 CGPA on a scale of 4 in the relevant field of study as mentioned on Degree / Transcript. If the institution is working on a scale other than 4, the CGPA will be converted to a scale of 4.

MASTER OF PHILOSOPHY IN EDUCATION

The field of education in Pakistan is yet to come into its own as a professional field. The people associated with and working for the system of education need to be professionally competent, knowledgeable about the new trends and changes and, above all, alive to the demand of quality. Similarly, the programs of preparing teachers for schools need to be looked afresh, not only in respect of quality assurance, but also to meet the need to remain abreast of the ongoing but unprecedented expansion in the realm of knowledge. With the introduction of technology in education, the educational scene has experienced a dramatic change making the planning and designing of learning environments and experiences in the school an inescapable need. Application of technology in educational setting has opened up limitless possibilities in curriculum planning, designing and delivery.

Self learning for both students and teachers is no longer a wish, but a necessity. The programs of teacher education should be attuned to the need of producing effective and better teachers who can meet the challenges of a rapidly progressing and changing world. Iqra University through its Faculty of Education and Learning Sciences, proposes to meet the challenge by keeping in view both the new pedagogical developments and the application of new practices in the indigenous setting of our schools.

MASTER OF PHILOSOPHY IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION

The Master of Philosophy (M.Phil) Program is a two-year in-depth course of study that combines coursework and a master?s dissertation. The Program aims to equip the candidate with a thorough understanding of the Principles of business theory and its application in various fields. Its also aims to enable the candidate to think systematically and to apply quantitative methods to business problems

General Coursework Requirement

  • The Minimum coursework requirement at IQRA is 36 credit hours of studies and a thesis.
  • The coursework requirement of every individual enrolled in the M.Phil program differs in the area of specialization based on his/her academic deficiency and the HEC requirement
  • Total courses to be completed is communicated to at the time of admission interview

The program comprises three types of courses:

Core Methodologies Courses are mandatory for all students. Students enrolled in he M.Phil Program must complete six core courses.

Specialization Courses provide broad knowledge in each of the three fields or tracks (Marketing, Finance, and Management)and are mandatory. Students enrolled in the M.Phil Program must complete three specialization courses.

Elective Courses give students the opportunity to develop a rich and varied background, consistent with individual preferences and needs. Students are required to take at least one elective course in some field other than their own specialization area.

i. Following applicants are eligible for admission in an M.Phil Programme:

    • Old MBA/MPA/M.com/ICMA/ICA/B.com (4 years).
    • BBA 4-year programme with a minimum of 136 credit hours.
    • An applicant must have a minimum 2nd division or 2.5 CGPA on a scale of 4.
    • NTS (General) Score = 50

ii. Applicants from recognized universalities / degree awarding institutions which award degree on division basis must have a minimum of 2nd division in the relevant field of study provided the Division is mentioned on the Degree/Transcript.

iii. Applicants from recognized universities / degree awarding institutions which award degrees on CGPA basis must have a minimum of 2.5 CGPA on a scale of 4 in the relevant field of study as mentioned on Degree / Transcript. If the institution is working on a scale other than 4, the CGPA will be converted to a scale of 4.

iv. Institutions which mention both division and CGPA on the Degree / Transcript must meet either of the two conditions mentioned below

    • CGPA of 2.5 or above (on a scale of 4)
    • Or 1st Division

v. Applicants having a foreign degree are required to provide the equivalence certificate from Higher Education Commission.

vi. The number of required credit hours for the award of a degree will be according to the policies of the Higher Education Commission.

PHD (DOCTORATE OF PHILOSOPHY IN EDUCATION)

The students who successfully complete the course work and maintain a GPA of 3.0 in their courses will be eligible to receive admission in the Ph. D program. The other condition for entry is passing of GRE test during the course of study. The candidate having successfully completed the two requirements of GPA and GRE will be admitted to the Ph. D program. For students applying for direct admission to PhD, 18 years of Education with an M.Phil in education or equivalent thereof are the basic requirements. Further the applicant will have to pass a departmental test and clearance of GRE during the course of studies.

The first phase of the Ph. D work requires submission of a doctoral study plan. The doctoral study plan will be prepared under the guidance of the research advisor appointed by the departmental research committee for the candidate. The doctoral study plan will be drawn in order to delimit the specific area of study in which the candidate desires to pursue research. The individual study plan must identify and clearly communicate the following:

  • Personal interest, objectives and relevance of study program for envisioned research work.
  • The specific domain of study, understanding of associate disciplines and issues pertaining to research.
  • Justification of the research and program of study from a practical point of view as related to the education system, issues and practices in the country.

The independent study courses will be undertaken under the supervision of a member of the faculty who will also assess the performance of the candidate. In addition, the student will undertake five more courses. These courses will be arranged in the faculty and each course will carry a value of 3 credit hours.

The successful completion of 18 credit hours will advance the candidate to the dissertation phase of the program. The doctoral dissertation will demonstrate the scholarship and research capabilities of the student, specifically, the student?s ability to comprehend, interpret, analyze and synthesize information. The student must also show a general understanding and grasp of the domain in which he/she is working and should be well informed about literature relating to the field. His ability to apply research techniques to collect data, analyze the information and discuss and generalize results will be examined and evaluated. The first requirement following the entry into dissertation phase is the selection of a suitable research topic and the preparation of a research proposal (synopsis), to be presented to and be approved by the Iqra University Board of Advance Studies and Research. In case of M.Phil students recommended for conversion of M.Phil thesis to the PhD level, an application duly recommended by the research adviser, the departmental research committee and the Dean will be forwarded to the BASAR for approval.

DOCTORATE OF PHILOSOPHY IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION

The Ph.D program in Business Administration is a three-year in-depth course of study that combines coursework and a doctoral dissertation. It is the highest research degree offered by Iqra University. The program aims to equip the candidates with a thorough understanding of the principles of business theory and its application in various fields. It also aims to enable the candidate to think systematically and apply quantitative methods to business problems.

General Coursework Requirement

  • The minimum coursework requirement for PhD at Iqra University is 18 credit hours of studies beyond M.Phil level and a thesis.
  • The coursework requirement will be based upon a written plan briefly setting out the educational outcomes expected from the course, a list of topics to be covered and the prescribed reading material.
  • The PhD research period will commence after the candidates has completed his/her course work and independent study requirement, passed GRE subject test and presented the first seminar.

The program comprises of two types of courses:

Core methodological courses are mandatory for all students. Students enrolled in the PhD program must complete four core courses. These courses orient the students to philosophical foundations of knowledge; issues in advance research and advance statistical modeling. Interdisciplinary seminar gives an opportunity to link area of specialization with the other related disciplines, thus enabling researchers to gain a holistic picture of the field.

Specialization coursesprovide broad knowledge in each of three fields or tracks, (Marketing, Finance, and Management) and are mandatory. Students choose one of the three fields and must complete two specialization courses in that field. Direct study I & II expose the students to the latest research and theoretical orientations in his area of specialization.

Comprehensive examination Once the student has successfully pursued the above coursework, he/she is required to take the PhD comprehensive examination. To be declared successful, the students must pass written and the oral parts of the Comprehensive Examination.

Degree completion time period

The minimum degree completion time period is three years from the date of registration

Minimum course load per semester

Students will be required to take a minimum of two courses per semester in order to finish the degree in the mentioned time frame.

Probation and dismissal policy

Students having a GPA of less than 2 in consecutive three semesters will be withdrawn from the program.

  • MS/M.Phil in the relevant field of study.
  • MBA with a minimum of 90 Credit hours (with 2 year bachelor?s programme) in the relevant field of study.
  • MBA with a minimum of 36 Credit hours (with 4 year bachelor?s programme) in the relevant field of study.
  • Minimum CGPA should be 3.0 on a scale of 4.
